Limitations of Online Mental Health Sessions Disclaimer

Last Updated: 28th of December, 2023

Technology Dependence: Online sessions rely on internet connectivity and technical equipment (like computers, tablets, or smartphones). Interruptions or technical failures during sessions due to connectivity issues or equipment malfunctions are possible and can impact the quality and continuity of care.

Confidentiality Risks: While Zanoss employs secure, encrypted platforms for online sessions to protect privacy and confidentiality, the inherent nature of online communication poses additional risks of data breaches or unauthorized access compared to in-person sessions.

Client's Environment: The effectiveness of online therapy can be influenced by the client’s physical environment. A lack of private, quiet space may hinder open communication and the overall effectiveness of the therapy.

Crisis Management: Online services are not suitable for acute crisis situations or emergencies. In such cases, immediate in-person attention or intervention is required, which online platforms cannot adequately provide.

Assessment Limitations: Initial and ongoing assessments in an online setting may not be as comprehensive as face-to-face evaluations, which can impact the understanding of the client’s needs and the effectiveness of the treatment plan.

Suitability: Online mental health services may not be suitable for all clients, conditions, or preferences. Suitability will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, and referrals to in-person services may be made if deemed more appropriate.
